Obviously my first expectation for myself in relation to this program is to pass the program and receive my diploma on my way to gaining my masters of Education. If I can gain knowledge through this course that I can apply to my online learning classrooms and have better and deeper learning being shown through my students then I would also consider that a success. I feel like this course is going to provide me with many tools and if I
can say at the end that I forged my own path that lead to creating my own understandings and gave me a selection of tools to make me a better teacher then I would consider myself a success and say that my journey in the program is complete; although my journey as a whole will not be complete. Learning is a life-long process and as a teacher I believe that you learn from your students as they learn from you so any teacher that says their journey is complete, in my opinion, should retire. I guess I will know that I have arrived at the end of the program with all the tools it could possibly give me once I receive my diploma but I will just be at the beginning of my teaching journey. I do not plan to “arrive” at my final learning destination until the day I retire or possibly many years after that.
The journey is one that, in my opinion, should span your entire teaching career. How
many teachers are in the schools or teaching online and believe that their
learning journey ended with walking across a stage to claim their teaching
degree?
